Goodbye

Goodbye, my friends. Goodbye, family. Goodbye, my favorite city. Goodbye to hiphop on the streets, piedmont park, queens and drag shows, children I know, commercialism, a familiar language, familiar streets and places, my bed. Goodbye: little blue van, Atlanta traffic, Georgia heat, friends, weekend trips, New Orleans, Savannah, New York. Beach. Mountains. Pure water and sterile environments. Crappy insurance and the politics of education. Those people I never could get along with. Little Five Points, Moreland, Hapeville and College Park. 15-minute commutes. Boddie family, Thornton Family, Starbucks Family, Hapeville Family. Convenience and security, routine and predictability.

Hello newness. Hello life. Hello evolution. Hello adventure.
